Throw Trump overboard at polls

The frenzied inquisition launched by our feckless leader to search for the author of the anonymous New York Times op-ed about his instability, coupled with his reaction to the revelations in the Bob Woodward book about the dysfunction in his administration (“Crazytown”), bring to mind nothing so much as the famous “Who stole the strawberries?” scene from the movie “The Caine Mutiny.” It has become increasingly obvious that our demented leader has gone full Capt. Queeg on us, with the ship of state he supposedly commands in serious danger of foundering. And just like in the movie, the appropriate response is undoubtedly a mutiny, which, since it obviously won’t be by his obsequious, complicit crew mates (i.e., Republicans), this time will have to be by voters at the polls come November.

Blackburn’s real priorities

Marsha Blackburn says in her recent, self-serving column (Sept. 10) pandering to the military community, “Fort Campbell is my top priority.” That was news to me. I thought her top priority was harassing Planned Parenthood and participating in other activities intended to insert herself and her fellow rightwing crazies into women’s decisions regarding their bodies. Women voting for Marsha Blackburn is like chickens voting for Colonel Sanders.
