Heading into Week 7 of the high school football season, here's a look at the 10 best teams in and around Memphis. 1. Lausanne (5-0): Thanks to a dazzling six-touchdown performanc­e by Michigan commitment Eric Gray, the Lynx pulled out a dominant 55-14 road win against St. George's. The Lynx continue to position themselves for a run at a third straight state championsh­ip. 2. Germantown (6-0): Germantown is the only undefeated Class 6A team in the area. The Red Devils' power was on full display last week as they turned up the heat on Douglass with a 49-0 homecoming win. The defense gave up just 8 yards the entire game. 3. Horn Lake (5-0): Undefeated Horn Lake has beaten its five opponents by scores of 51-6, 52-12, 36-7, 58-9 and 45-13. Dominant is the appropriat­e word to describe its season thus far. 4.Whitehaven (4-2): Whitehaven is the first two-loss team to appear on this list. However, the two losses came back to back against the top-ranked local team (Lausanne) and a defending Arkansas state champion (North Little Rock). The Tigers have beaten everyone else, including Hamilton, which they 5. Memphis University School (5-0): The Owls are 5-0 and coming off a season-high 54-point outburst against Haywood. The defense has been stingy, too, giving up 14 points or fewer in four of five outings. 6. Memphis Central (5-0): The Warriors have showcased a strong defense all season. They have yet to give up more than 10 points in a contest, including last week's 40-6 homecoming win over Fairley. 7. Christian Brothers (5-1): Christian Brothers' lone loss came from out of state Bob Jones (Madison, Ala). It survived a close 31-24 game against St. Paul's (Covington, La.) before turning around and pummeling Memphis East 69-0. A highly anticipate­d match-up with Briarcrest awaits. 8. Briarcrest (5-1): Like Christian Brothers, the Saints had a big shutout win last week. Briarcrest beat KIPP 51-0 and will have a showdown with Christian Brothers on Friday. 9. Houston (5-1): Houston's only loss came against Germantown. Besides that, the Mustangs' resume looks sharp, including a 39-0 win over Melrose last week. 10. Olive Branch (5-0): Olive Branch is undefeated and coming off a 26-6 win over Saltillo last week.
