The Sear Shack to open location in Arlington

- Jennifer Chandler The Commercial Appeal

The Sear Shack will open a new location in Arlington at 5224 Airline Road, Suite 107.

It will be the sixth location for this Memphis-based restaurant group that has restaurants in Collierville, East Memphis, Bartlett and Olive Branch.

The Sear Shack features gourmet griddle burgers made with 100 percent fresh, never-frozen Angus beef. The menu is limited to burgers, hand-cut french fries and milkshakes.

“Arlington is growing so rapidly,” said Joseph Ang, founder and owner of Sear Shack.

“The food choices out there are great, and we think our concept will complement what is already there. It will give people that live in Arlington another local restaurant option.”

Ang plans to start construction in October. Ang said “if all goes as planned,” the new location should open in early January.

A new store in Hernando has been under construction for several months. This will be the fifth Sear Shack location. The restaurant will be at 427 East Commerce St. and is tentatively scheduled to open Sept. 21.

Ang opened his first Sear Shack in Collierville in 2015.

“After having had a franchise restaurant for eight years, I decided to open a restaurant of my own,” he said. “The ‘better burger’ industry was starting to boom so I thought that burgers was the right direction.”

Ang said his main influence was InN-Out Burger.

“We try to do everything from scratch,” he said. “We even bake our own buns. Nothing is ever frozen except for the milkshakes.”

“The food choices out there are great, and we think our concept will complement what is already there. It will give people that live in Arlington another local restaurant option.”
