Station Camp, Science Hill win team golf titles

The TSSAA's Large Class state golf tournament will be just an 18-hole tournament.

The high school athletic associatio­n canceled the final round of the 36-hole tournament on Wednesday at WillowBroo­k Golf Club in Manchester because of heavy rain. By rule, the final results of the tournament revert to the first-day results.

Science Hill won the boys tournament after shooting 291 on the first day. Farragut finished second with a 304.

Station Camp won its first girls state golf championsh­ip after firing a 146 in the opening round. That was four shots better than second-place Houston.

Dobyns-Bennett sophomore Isabella Van der Biest shot a 5-under 67 to win the girls tournament by one stroke over Station Camp freshman Lynn Lim.

On the boys side, Farragut sophomore Lance Simpson and Science Hill's Jackson Skeen, a Tennessee commitment, each shot a 1-under 71 to finish as individual champions.

Coffee County's Austin Farris, Dickson County's Cameron Tankersley and teammate Ty Beasley as well as Franklin's John Morris finished tied for third with a 72.

The TSSAA will hold its Division II state tournament on Monday and Tuesday at WillowBroo­k Golf Club.
