Top high school football performers for Week 8

Here are the top Memphis-area high school football performers for Week 8.

OFFENSE Ty McNeal, Bartlett.

McNeal accounted for both Panther TDs and threw for 105 yards in a 14-0 victory vs. MAHS.

In a 49-14 victory at Ripley, Hayes had 10 rushes for 231 yards and two touchdowns to lead the undefeated Chargers.

Marcus Hayes, Covington. Codarries Page, Covington.

The Chargers ran for nearly 500 yards in a 49-14 win over Ripley, with Page finishing his night with 10 carries, 196 yards and one TD.

Reid Holland, Fayette Academy.

Holland, a senior, ran the ball 13 times for 115 yards and three scores, while also hauling in a 54-yard TD catch in a 62-56 loss Thursday against visiting Davidson Academy.

Rube Scott Rhea, Fayette Academy.

From his QB position, Rhea was a little more dangerous with his feet in Thursday’s 62-56 shootout loss to Davidson Academy, tallying 227 yards on 13 carries and three touchdowns.

The Crusader

Cole Putnam, FACS.

QB played admirably in a 40-14 loss to visiting Harding Academy Thursday, rushing the ball 13 times for 169 yards and two TDs, while also throwing for 117 yards.

Terry Wilkins, Fairley.

Wilkins was plenty valuable in Fairley’s 54-6 victory over Manassas Thursday, scoring three touchdowns (38, 23 and 26 yards).

In a 43-0 win over BTW, Carter threw for 121 yards and two touchdowns.

Tevin Carter, Freedom Prep. Cortney Tate, Freedom Prep.

Tate had 17 rushes for 201 yards and four touchdowns in a 43-0 victory over BTW.

Gardner was instrument­al in a 31-0 victory over White Station, scoring three TDs, as the Red Devils stayed undefeated.

B.J. Gardner, Germantown. Tyler Moore, Harding Academy.

The speedy Moore ran the ball 27 times for 254 yards and three TDs in Thursday’s 40-14 road win over FACS.

Jerfonzo Smith, Millington.

Smith accounted for all four touchdowns and ran for 186 yards on 27 attempts in the Trojans’ 28-14 victory over Craigmont.

Banks paced the Conquistad­ors on the ground, rushing 13 times for 70 yards and one touchdown in a 13-7 win over Grenada.

Catledge was 16-of-30 passing for 273 yards and one TD in the Conquistad­ors’ 13-7

Gary Banks, Olive Branch. Cole Catledge, Olive Branch.

victory at Grenada.

Josh Stevenson, Olive Branch.

In earning a 13-7 win at Grenada, the Conquistad­ors took full advantage Stevenson’s big night (11 receptions, 175 yards and one TD).

Georvon Shelton Raleigh-Egypt.

and The Pharaohs beat Melrose, 27-0, with two touchdowns apiece from Shelton and Webb.

Jesse Komoroski, St. Benedict.

Komoroski was sharp from the get-go, finishing with 166 yards on 12-of-22 passing and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 44-6 win against Westwood.

Mills had a very good day at the office, carrying the ball 20 times for 214 yards and 3 TDs (13, 11, 32) in the Eagles’ 44-6 victory over Westwood.

Elijah Mills, St. Benedict. Mac Fullen, Academy.

The workhorse tailback had 27 carries for 217 yards and four TDs (3, 65, 1 and 3 yards) in a 42-35 loss to Clarksvill­e Academy.

Vincent Guy, Whitehaven.

The Tigers’ QB threw three touchdown passes in 35-14 victory over previously unbeaten Central.

DEFENSE Romell Webb, Tipton-Rosemark Kyler Hartunian, Bartlett.

Hartunian continued to shine this season, totaling nine tackles in a 14-0 win over MAHS.

Tristan Bullock, Jordan Davidson Carson Evans, FACS.

and Every member of this Crusader trio registered seven tackles, with the latter also making an intercepti­on in a 40-14 loss to Harding Academy.

Stephen Walker, Freedom Prep.

Walker registered six tackles (two TFL) and a pair of intercepti­ons in a 43-0 victory over BTW. Hollins, a senior safety, returned an intercepti­on 105 yards in the Lions’ 40-14 win at FACS on Thursday.

Michael McCargo, Macon Road Baptist.

McCargo had two intercepti­on returns for touchdowns in a 50-0 victory over the Memphis Nighthawks.

A bright spot in a 14-0 loss at Bartlett, Douglass had six tackles and two QB sacks.

Darion Douglass, MAHS. Tipton-Rosemark

Byrd was one of two Rebels with an intercepti­on in a 42-35 loss to Clarksvill­e Academy, while making nine receptions for 86 yards offensivel­y.

Charlie Brannon St. Benedict. Corey Wilhite,

and The Eagle duo combined for 16 tackles, 5 TFL and 1.5 sacks in a 44-6 victory over Westwood.
