Keep my father’s pro-growth agenda going

- Your Turn

“The only reason to vote Democrat is if you are tired of winning ... The economy is booming, wages are rising, and more Americans are working today than ever before,” President Trump proudly informed the people of Southaven on the evening of Oct. 2.

But my father still needs help from Trump Country if he’s going to continue making America great again, because as he also noted, “we got no Democrat support for any of this.”

Southaven is a perfect example of why the American people elected President Trump, and why it’s so important to ensure that he continues to have the political support to carry out the rest of his pro-growth agenda.

Unemployment remains at historic lows nationally, and the same holds true for Mississippi. In fact, jobless numbers are the lowest ever recorded in the Magnolia State. Thanks to my father’s historic tax cuts, the average Southaven family is saving nearly $2,000 per year, and individuals are taking home an extra $900.

Nationally, middle-class income recently hit an all-time high, and GDP growth is higher than the overall unemployment rate for the first time in a decade. Businesses are investing, expanding, and taking risks like never before.

Last month, small business optimism shattered a record previously set 35 years ago, and that’s why dozens of large and small businesses in Mississippi have increased wages, given out bonuses, and hired more workers.

AT&T recently moved into a 430,000-square-foot facility in Southaven, and the area itself has shown solid growth in manufacturing, with more and more workers entering the workforce over the past three months.

In Memphis, Amazon is building another distribution facility, creating 600 more jobs for the tri-state area.

Fred Smith, chairman and CEO of Memphis-based FedEx Corp., said his company would provide job training to 512,000 workers as part of my father’s “Pledge to America’s Workers.”

No matter where you turn, business is booming. This is all due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, deregulation, and the other pro-growth policies implemented by the Trump Administration. My father knew that the best way to get Mississippi back on its feet was to the get the federal government out of your pockets — allowing for economic freedom like never seen before.

The bad news is that Democrats want to take all that away this November.

They want to repeal my father’s tax bill, and bring back the stifling fees and regulations that put our economy on the brink of disaster.

The good news is that we can put a stop to their obstructionist games by turning out to vote in the same numbers this November that we did in 2016.

Southaven, and Mississippi as a whole, have made progress economists will study for years to come, and it is firmly the result of my father’s agenda.

The stakes this November couldn’t be higher. Democrats want to take back their “crumbs” — Republicans want to pass Tax Cuts 2.0. Democrats want to bring back job-killing regulations — Republicans want to keep America competitive. The choices are clear.

The only way to keep the wheels moving in the right direction, and to keep Mississippi growing, is to keep Democrats from regaining a majority in Congress.
