FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Ke’Shawn Vaughn rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns to help Vanderbilt earn its first Southeastern Conference victory of the season with a 45-31 win over Arkansas on Saturday.

Kyle Shurmur added a pair of touchdown passes to Jared Pinkney for the Commodores (4-5, 1-4), who earned their first SEC win since a victory over Tennessee to end last season.

Vaughn ran 26 times in his return after missing last week’s loss to Kentucky with an injury, including a 63-yard touchdown burst for Vanderbilt’s first score.

He finished just short of his careerbest of 180 yards rushing, set as a freshman with Illinois in 2015.

“It was just a good feeling being back out there on the team,” Vaughn said.

Shurmur finished 13-of-19 passing for 192 yards, and Pinkney had five catches for 93 yards and the two scores.

Vanderbilt came into the game having lost three straight and five of its last six games.

Rakeem Boyd ran 19 times for 113 yards for the Razorbacks (2-7, 0-5), the third time in four games the sophomore has topped the 100-yard mark in rushing.

Top 25 No. 2 Clemson 59, Florida State 10

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Trevor Lawrence threw four touchdown passes, and No. 2 Clemson (8-0, 5-0 ACC) handed Florida State (4-4, 2-4) its worst home loss in program history.

Lawrence completed 20 of 37 passes for 314 yards before staying on the sideline for good late in the third quarter. Tee Higgins and Amari Rodgers each had two touchdown receptions.

The Tigers moved to 8-0 for the seventh time in school history, including the third time in the last four seasons.

Northwestern 31, No. 20 Wisconsin 17

EVANSTON, Ill. – Clayton Thorson ran for two touchdowns and threw for one, and Northwestern beat Wisconsin.

The Big Ten West-leading Wildcats (5-3, 5-1) moved 11⁄2 games ahead of the Badgers (5-3, 3-2) and gained some revenge for a loss at Camp Randall Stadium early last season that helped keep them out of the conference championship game.

AAC UMass 22, UConn 17

STORRS, Conn. – Marquis Young rushed for 148 yards including a fourthquarter touchdown that gave UMass (3-5) a win over UConn (1-7).

Young got an assist from teammates who helped shove him into the end zone from 3 yards out to take the lead with 3:39 remaining. On UConn’s next play from scrimmage, Lee Moses intercepted David Pindell’s pass near midfield and the Minutemen were able to run out the clock to snap a three-game losing streak.
