Term limits for Congress, too
Having voted in every election since 1960, I would like to make the following observations.
Over the past half-century, both parties have taken positions that leave little room for compromise. Too many of these congressmen and senators have become lifetime career politicians. Most have become zealots for their party’s extremes and ideologies. Both use stringent litmus tests that further exacerbate their rigid positions. The vast majority have no understanding of what the average citizen faces in their working lifetimes.
A few of our elected officials cannot be bought, influenced or scared off, but they are few and far between. Political campaigns border on lies, half-truths, innuendos, guilt by association, etc. If repeated often enough in the media, it becomes accepted as fact. Rather than

I would recommend the following. We have a two-term limit on being president (eight years). Why not a 12-year limit for both senators (two terms) and congressmen (six terms). With this, we could get rid of the lifetime professional career politicians who now dominate their respective parties and are responsible for our nation’s gridlock.
