Thanks for higher ed report
Thank you for the 12-page insert in the Nov. 11 edition titled “Educating Tennessee.” This piece was well-written and really delved into the efforts in Tennessee to expand college access and improve graduation rates at institutions of higher learning.
Gov. Bill Haslam is dedicated to exactly these goals. This insert got into the key players in higher ed in the state while explaining the problems encountered by students as they try to further their education. Well done.
The designation of Frayser/38127 as an education desert especially drew my interest. I spent almost 20 years teaching math at the Gill Center for Southwest Tennessee Community College/Shelby State.
