Cupcakes, cookies and custom cakes have recently been added to the offerings at The South Main Market at 409 S. Main St.

Dee’lightful Bliss Bakery opened Friday in this Downtown Memphis food hall.

Da’livya Gordon has been baking sweets for the past seven years. She is the owner and baker for this one-woman bakery.

“It started as a hobby. I was always good at making things with my hands,” Gordon said. “I actually started my business selling chocolate-covered strawberries to the employees at the Toyota dealership on Winchester.”

As her business grew thanks to “word-of-mouth” marketing, she added custom cakes, cheesecakes, cupcakes, tarts and cookies to her menu.

For the past three years, Gordon’s bakery has been located in Whitehaven. After making the wedding cake for an event at 409 South Main (the special events space in the building), she was asked by the management of The South Main Market if she would like to move her business Downtown.

Her new location is located just inside the front doors of The South Main Market, next door to the space that will soon be home to Sweet Magnolia Gelato Company. Her small bakery consists of two ovens and a large stand mixer. Gordon is the only baker, making everything from scratch.

In the display case is a selection of cupcakes and cookies. Gordon said the

Gordon's over-sized cookies range in flavor from Snickers chocolate chip to gooey butter cookies.

“My custom cakes are my specialty,” Gordon said. Her cakes are by special order only, and orders can be placed online or in the bakery.

The South Main Market, which opened at the end of 2017, is touted as Memphis’ first food hall. Home to several food vendors, the space is undergoing renovation and expansion.

Current tenants include craft cocktail bar Civil Pour, Java Cabana coffee shop, City Block Salumeria butcher shop, Wok’n in Memphis Chinese food and Venga Mexican restaurant. In anticipation of her new neighbor, Gordon said she is already brainstorming about making an ice cream sandwich with her cookies and Sweet Magnolia Gelato Company's gelato.
