Fourth of July: Things to do in Memphis
Independence Day in Memphis will be full of fireworks, food and fun for families and friends.
Here are some events to celebrate the Fourth of July.
Memphis Stars and Stripes 5K
Benefiting the American Red Cross, the Memphis Stars and Stripes 5K will run again in its eighth year. Rain or shine, the race features live music, food and a post-race party where awards are passed out. Children also have a chance at racing during the Kids Race.
When: July 3, packet pickup at 4 p.m. with the race beginning at 7 p.m.; the Kids Race starts at 8 p.m.
Where: Memphis Botanic Garden, 750 Cherry Road
Bartlett Fireworks Extravaganza
Bartlett will host its annual Star Spangled Fireworks Extravaganza with live music by the Bartlett Community Concert Band and Jamie Baker & the VIPS. The event features concessions, children's activities and a car show.
When: July 3, event begins at 6 p.m., with fireworks at 9:10 p.m.
Where: Bobby K. Flaherty Municipal Center, U.S. 70 and Appling Road
Collierville Independence Day Celebration
Collierville will host a community celebration of Independence Day with music, food and a fireworks show. The event will also honor veterans.
When: 6-10 p.m. July 3, fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.
Where: H.W. Cox Park, 440 W. Powell Road
Hernando Independence Day Fireworks
Hernando will celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks, food and live entertainment from KC Johns. The event plays out on the ballfield at Hernando Civic Center.
When: 5-10 p.m. July 3, fireworks start at 9:15 p.m.
Where: Hernando Civic Center, 3800 Robertson Gin Road
Flag City Freedom Celebration
Millington will mark Independence Day with fireworks, food and family fun. The event begins at 4 p.m. and will feature live music, a car show and a children's area. The fireworks show will begin right after sunset. Cost is $5 per carload.
When: 4-10 p.m. July 3, fireworks start right after sunset
Where: USA Stadium Complex, 4351 Babe Howard Blvd.
City of Horn Lake Grand Fireworks Display and Festival
Horn Lake will celebrate America’s independence with a fireworks show, presented by Belhaven University. The event also will include food and live music at 7 p.m.
When: 4-10 p.m. July 3, fireworks start at 9 p.m.
Where: Latimer Lake Park, 5633 Tulane Road
Memphis Redbirds Independence Day Celebration
Join the Memphis Redbirds in celebrating America's independence with an all-you-can-eat buffet and a game against the New Orleans Baby Cakes. A post-game fireworks show will light up the stadium to end the night. When: July 3, gates open at 5 p.m. Where: Autozone Park, 200 Union Ave.
Central Gardens Fourth of July Parade
Central Gardens celebrates Independence Day with its annual Fourth of July Parade. The morning parade starts off the patriotic day with best dressed contests, best decorated vehicles, food and drinks.
When: July 4, beginning at 9 a.m. Where: 1500 block of Carr Avenue (between Willett and Rozelle)
Germantown Fireworks Extravaganza
Germantown's annual Fourth of July event is back with moon bounces, music and more. The evening kicks off at 5 p.m. with live music and games. A fireworks show is set for 9 p.m.
When: 5-10:30 p.m. July 4, fireworks start at 9 p.m.
Where: Municipal Park, 1900 S. Germantown Road
Independence Day Spectacular at Mud Island
Memphis River Parks Partnership will host live music and a fireworks show along the Mississippi River to celebrate Independence Day. Officials suggest bringing a picnic basket for friends and family to enjoy the night at Mud Island Park.
When: 6-10 p.m. July 4, fireworks start at 9:15 p.m.
Where: Mud Island Park, 125 N. Front St.
Southaven July 4th Celebration
Southaven will host its annual Independence Day celebration in the Bankplus Amphitheater at Snowden Grove Park. Go early because gates will close once the amphitheater is full.
When: July 4, gates open at 4 p.m. and fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m.

20th Annual Celebrate Your Independence Fireworks & Festival
Olive Branch will mark the Fourth of July with its 20th Annual Celebrate Your Independence Fireworks & Festival. The event features food vendors, a Kids Zone and a fireworks show with music. When: 4-11 p.m. July 4 Where: Olive Branch City Park, 8267 Goodman Road
Cooper-young Community Association 4th of July Family Parade
Cooper-young Community Association will host its annual 4th of July Family Parade, complete with Popsicles and contests. Prizes will be awarded for best-decorated wagon, bike or person. The parade begins at Peabody Elementary. When: 10 a.m. July 4 Where: Peabody Elementary, 2086 Young Ave.
70th Annual High Point Terrace Neighborhood Independence Day Parade
High Point Terrace's annual Independence Day parade is back for the 70th year. The parade is one of the longest-running in Memphis with cookies, lemonade and house-decorating contests. The parade begins at the corner of Aurora Circle with fire trucks leading the way west to Mimosa Avenue and heading back to the starting point.

Cordova Independence Day Celebration and Parade
Cordova celebrates Independence Day with its annual Patriotic Program followed by a parade. This year they will honor Don Lawson, an Army veteran who served in World War II and Korea. Prizes will be awarded to best patriotic attire and decorations. When: 9:30 a.m. July 4 Where: Cordova Community Center, 1017 Sanga Road
