1960s prankster Krassner, who named Yippies, dies at 87

Paul Krassner, the publisher, author and radical political activist on the front lines of 1960s countercul­ture who helped tie together his loose-knit prankster group by naming them the Yippies, died Sunday in Southern California, his daughter said.

Krassner died at his home in Desert Hot Springs, Holly Krassner Dawson told The Associated Press. He was 87 and had recently transition­ed to hospice care after an illness, Dawson said. She didn’t say what the illness was.

The Yippies, who included Jerry Rubin and Abbie Hoffman and were otherwise known as the Youth Internatio­nal Party, briefly became notorious for such stunts as running a pig for president and throwing dollar bills onto the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange.

Doherty to appear on ‘Riverdale’ Luke Perry tribute

Shannen Doherty will guest star in the season four premiere of “Riverdale,” which is set to honor Luke Perry.

The show’s executive producer, Roberto Aguirre-sacasa, made the announceme­nt Sunday at Comic-con in San Diego. Perry played Doherty’s love interest on “Beverly Hills, 90210.” On “Riverdale,” he played Fred Andrews, the father of lead character Archie Andrews. The episode will air Oct. 9 on The CW. Perry died in March after suffering a massive stroke at age 52.

Reality TV star Jesse James is offering a $5,000 reward for the return of one of his beloved dogs.

James in an Instagram post says the 6-year-old French bulldog named Coco went missing in the Newport, Rhode Island area last Tuesday.
