The Commercial Appeal

Ready for a fresh start?

-

Another school years is just around the corner. And the beginning of a new school year, to me, always feels like the start of a new year. Minus the New Year’s resolutions that are so difficult to keep.

College football season draws closer – always a good thing – and every team and fan base has renewed hope and a clean slate.

Students of all levels also get a new record. New classes. New teachers. New classmates. And a chance to make good on the promise to have better study habits before exams (yeah, I didn’t always follow through on that one).

It’s all kind of inspiring, this fresh start. Like all things are possible. I like that, too, because as a REALTOR® I’m in the business of helping people make their dreams come true.

Locally, our estate market is very healthy. Strong, in fact. Maybe a few years ago when the economy was struggling, this would not have been your favorite time to consider selling, buying, or both. Now? The market just keeps on keeping on.

You can start on a quest to buy your first home, a new home, an empty-nest home – whatever it is – in late summer. You can put your home on the market and if you’ve done your due diligence and made it buyer-ready and priced it right (having a REALTOR® by your side always helps), you should be in good shape.

One advantage we have in this part of the country is a much longer selling/ buying season. If you know your home will require work before going on the market, you have a lot of good weather left to ready the outside. Then you go to work on the interior.

If you’re looking to buy, there’s a lot of time to check out neighborhoods. In good weather, you get a chance to see how a neighborhood really is. Are people out walking their dogs, riding their bikes, having block parties, or taking care of their lawns?

So, yes, the weather is still pretty warm (hot, actually) and no doubt we have a few sweltering days left ahead of us. But it’s also the start of college football season and the kids are headed back to school. Which means we’re moving ever-closer to autumn.

But right now you can be ahead of the game if you want to make a move. If you think it might the right time for you, reach out to a REALTOR® and get started.

Your happy new year might just begin in late summer.
