Here's a look at promotions, hirings, movers and newsmakers in the Memphis area:
❚ Memphis-based hotel development and management company Cooper Hotels last fall was recognized with a 2018 Hilton Legacy Award for the Hilton Hotels & Resorts Brand Top Performer, Mid-size Portfolio. Cooper Hotels was the brand's only recipient of the award. Of Cooper's 17 hotels located in five states, the company's three flagship Hilton brand hotels earned Cooper Hotels the award based on their performance. They are Hilton Naples (Fla.), Hilton Orlando/altamonte Springs (Fla.) and Hilton Knoxville Airport. Winners were selected based on criteria that included quality and commitment to guest experience.
❚ Intermodal logistics IMC Companies added another company to its family of brands when it launched Pacific Drayage Services in August to provide drayage and warehousing services to customers in the Seattle and Tacoma markets in Washington state. IMC is Memphis based and now has nine brands under its wings and has the largest marine drayage provider nationwide.
❚ Katie Milligan, Start Co. chief of staff, was one of four Tennessee leaders and the only Memphis representative to graduate from Delta Leadership Institute Executive Academy. DLI brought together 31 public, private and nonprofit-sector leaders from each of the states served by the Delta Regional Authority — Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. Each fellow was chosen by their state's governor and DRA leadership to attend the 10-month program.
❚ Artsmemphis promoted Tracy Lauritzen Wright to chief operating officer for Artsmemphis. She previously served as director of Grants and Initiatives,
and will continue as chief program officer for grants and initiatives. Wright joined Artsmemphis in November 2016 after a tenure at the National Civil Rights Museum where she ultimately served as director of Museum Partnerships and Compliance, and managed the museum's $27.5M renovation project.
❚ The Rev. Barbara Kirk-norris recently joined Trezevant as associate chaplain. Prior to her joining, she served as associate rector of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity in Midland, Texas. She earned her master's degree in adult education and medical ethics from the University of Tennessee,
Knoxville and her master of Divinity from the Virginia Theological Seminary.
❚ The Seam's chairman and chief executive officer Mark Pryor was appointed to the Technology Advisory committee of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission.
