Grizzlies’ Clarke out with an injury

- Evan Barnes Memphis Commercial Appeal USA TODAY NETWORK – TENNESSEE

HOUSTON — The Grizzlies’ road trip woes continued with the team announcing Tuesday that Brandon Clarke will miss Wednesday’s game against the Houston Rockets with a right quadriceps injury.

Clarke was listed as out on the team’s injury report and the Grizzlies didn’t announce a timetable for his return. He started Monday’s loss to the Clippers and only played four minutes before leaving for the locker room.

He joins Jaren Jackson Jr. as Grizzlies players who have gotten hurt after the All-star break. Jackson suffered a sprained left knee in Friday’s loss to the Lakers and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

With Grayson Allen out for the season and Justise Winslow out with a back injury suffered before the trade deadline, the Grizzlies are limited on wing players.

It also could mean Josh Jackson moves into starting lineup. He’s had three consecutive games scoring in double figures off the bench. Despite his shooting woes early in his career, he’s shooting 45.5% on 3-pointers since the All-star break.

The Grizzlies also recalled Yuta Watanabe on Tuesday from the Hustle to help add depth.

But Jackson’s play has been the brightest spot since the All-star break and showed his improvement both off and on the court since beginning the season in the G-league.

Jackson started 64 games for the Phoenix Suns in his first two seasons after being selected as the No. 4 overall pick.

They Grizzlies have lost their first three games on the road trip and now face a Rockets team that has Russell Westbrook available after he was injured for the first two games against the Grizzlies.
