Andrew White, big brother at just a year of age, greeted his quadruplet sister Rachel with a kiss. Rachel came home from Methodist North Hospital on Monday, the last released of the four babies born Feb. 3 – 11 weeks early – to Frank and Nita White. The other additions to the Raleigh family are Caleb, Joshua and Rebekah. Frank White is a Memphis firefighter, and his wife is a homemaker. The last quadruplets publicly announced in the Memphis area were born on July 22, 1992.
50 years ago — 1970
Students at Lemoyne-owen College opened three days of activities as part of their school’s current fundraising drive yesterday, and by way of announcement staged a good-natured campus demonstration. The students plan to assist in raising about $140,000, which is needed to meet a goal of $1.6 million to be used in construction of a mathematics and science building.

Edward G. Humphreys, progressive Cordova farmer, yesterday was named president of the Shelby County Farm Bureau at a meeting at the courthouse. Mr. Humphreys replaces J.W. Ross of Capleville, who held the presidency for three years.

Before a congregation that taxed the capacity of the historic edifice, including many non-catholics, the golden jubilee ceremonies of St. Brigid’s Catholic Church were inaugurated Sunday morning with solemn High Mass.
125 years ago — 1895
Adel, La. – Bandits early yesterday robbed the Adel State Bank, shooting the cashier. As they attempted to get away, a number of merchants attacked them, and two of the bandits were killed.
