Memphis and Saint Louis have agreed to rekindle a long-standing basketball series, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Rothstein reports the first game is set for the 2020-21 season and will take place at Fedexforum in Memphis.

The return game is set for the 2021-22 season. Neither school has announced the deal. The Tigers and Billikens, once league mates as members of the Missouri Valley, Metro and Conference USA, last met in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Memphis leads the all-time series, which began in the 1966-67 season, 32-26.

The rest of the Tigers’ non-conference schedule for the upcoming season sets up as follows: The Tigers, who will host exhibition games against Lemoyne-owen on Oct. 18 and Alabama on Oct. 31 or Nov. 1, also will host Mississippi Valley State (Nov. 10), Arkansas State (Nov. 14), Murray State (Nov. 21) and Central Arkansas (Dec. 27). Memphis is also set to participate in this year’s Battle 4 Atlantis (Nov. 25-27). The Tigers are set to travel to Ole Miss (Dec. 5) and Georgia (Jan. 2), while they will also square off in neutral-site games against Auburn (Dec. 12, State Farm Arena in Atlanta) and Tennessee (Dec. 18 or 20 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville). The exhibition game against Alabama, which will serve as a fundraiser for COVID-19, is contingent upon an NCAA waiver.

It’s also part of a series agreement that will send Memphis to Tuscaloosa during the 2021-22 season and bring Alabama back to Memphis in 2022-23.
