Three people have been arrested and indicted on reckless homicide charges after a Memphis woman died from injuries stemming from an attack by four dogs, the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Doris Arrington, 59, was killed by the animals on April 22, in the 1200 block of Capital Avenue in the New Chicago area.

The three individuals are related. Jones, 61, is the mother of Jordan, 40. Perry, 22, is Jordan's son.

A statement issued by marshal Tyreece Miller read, “Unsecured dogs were deadly weapons in this horrible crime. I'm pleased that the Marshals Service had a hand in bringing the owners to justice.”

According to a release from Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich's office, the attack occurred around 8 a.m. the morning of April 22.

Police were called to the New Chicago neighborhood, and located Arrington's body. Weirich's office described Arrington's wounds as severe bites on her arms and legs.

Arrington died from the blood loss sustained in the attack.

After the attack, Memphis police located four dogs with blood on their mouths and coats, Weirch's office said. Previous complaints about the animals had been made to the Memphis Animal Services and the Mayor's Action Center; residents had complained the dogs were aggressive, and could escape their enclosure.

The release from the marshals stated Jones and Jordan were taken into custody at an apartment located in the 5200 block of Shellborn Circle. Perry surrendered himself to the marshals at 201 Poplar.
