20 prep players to watch on offense in 2020

The high school football season is set to begin Aug. 21. Here is a look at 20 players to watch on offense this season.

Scottie Alexander, Colliervil­le, WR, Sr.: Alexander caught 25 passes for 471 yards and six touchdowns last season. He has offers from Memphis, Tennessee and Louisville, among others.

Aliou Bah, Whitehaven, OL, Jr.: The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Bah was a starter for Class 6A quarterfinalist as a sophomore last year, and picked up offers from Tennessee, Florida State and Southern Cal, among others.

Cartier Beverly, Central, RB, Jr.: Beverly rushed for 1,387 yards last season and helped Central reach the second round of the Class 6A playoffs.

Isaiah Brevard, Southaven, WR, Sr.: The Oregon commitment is the No. 2 prospect in Mississipp­i, according to the 247Sports Composite. He is committed to play in the Army All-american Bowl.

Tevin Carter, Kirby, QB, Jr.: Carter missed most of last season due to a knee injury, but is an impact player when healthy. The transfer from West Memphis has offers that include Auburn, LSU, Florida State, Tennessee and Memphis.

Michael Dallas, Briarcrest, QB, Sr.: Dallas was a DII-AAA West all-region selection at quarterbac­k and a Commercial Appeal All-metro third-team selection at punter last season.

Jaylen Greenwood, ECS, RB, Jr.: Greenwood, who has offers from Memphis and Georgia Tech among others, rushed for 1,478 yards and 18 touchdowns for DII-AA state champ ECS last season.

DJ Harden, Christian Brothers, OL, Sr.: Harden, a three-star prospect, has offers from Tennessee and Indiana, among others.

Brandon Harris, White Station, WR, Sr.: The 5-foot-9 slot receiver was a first-team all-region selection in 8-6A and he picked up a Memphis offer over the summer.

Marcus Hayes, Covington, RB, Sr.: Hayes was a finalist for Class 3A Mr. Football as a sophomore when he rushed for 2,120 yards and 23 touchdowns. He missed some games due to injury but still averaged over 100 yards per game.

Kyle Lowe, Fayette-ware, QB, Jr.: Lowe led Lausanne to the DII-AA semifinals, throwing for 1,313 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also scored 11 rushing touchdowns. Offers include Kansas, Southern Miss and UAB.

Brandon Mackey, Cordova, RB, Sr.: Mackey was a first-team all-region selection in 7-6A last season.

Gavin Mckay, MUS, TE, Sr.: The Missouri commitment caught 35 passes for 508 yards and three touchdowns last year and helped MUS make the DII-AAA

semifinals.

Cameron Miller, MAHS, WR, Jr: The 6-foot-1 receiver has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, and Arkansas

among others.

Dietrick Pennington, ECS, OL, Sr. The Clemson commitment is the state's No. 4 overall prospect. He led an offensive line that helped the Eagles average 33.2 points and win the DII-AA state title.

Tahj Shabazz, Houston, WR, Sr.: The 6-foot-2 receiver has offers from

Baylor and Kansas, among others.

Jalen Shead, Olive Branch, TE, Sr.: Shead, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound tight end, is choosing between Alabama, LSU and Ole Miss as his top three schools.

Hadem Sow, Mitchell, QB, Sr.: Sow threw for 1,242 yards and 16 touchdowns last year as Mitchell fell in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Joyner Stephens, Middle College, RB, Sr.: Stephens had 1,539 all-purpose yards and 15 touchdowns and led Middle College to its first playoff win in school history.

Harrison Wilkes, Houston, OL, Sr.: Wilkes helped pave the way for the area's top offense last year as Houston made the Class 6A semifinals.
