Three dead, three injured in weekend shootings
Three people were killed and three others were injured in a five separate incidents across Memphis on Friday and Saturday.
Two people were killed in the first incident Friday evening. The victims were found inside a Mercedes near 4334 Falcon Drive in Memphis. When Memphis Police Department officers arrived on the scene, one of the victims was already dead. The second victim was transported to Regional One Health in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, police said via Twitter.
The victims were not identified by Saturday morning. Police are searching for two masked suspects.
Another person was killed in a separate shooting Saturday morning, police say. The victim was found unresponsive near 447 E. Olive Ave. and was pronounced. He died at the scene. One person has been detained as police continue to investigate.

Last month, MPD Director Mike Rallings said homicides had spiked since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. He said killings were up about 30% in the first half of 2020 as compared to the first half of 2019 putting Memphis on pace to see a record high homicide rate this year.
Three more people were injured in non-fatal shootings on Friday and Saturday.
Friday evening a shooting victim met police at Methodist North Hospital. Police say the victim was shot on Saint Elmo Avenue and was driven to the hospital. No suspect information was revealed Saturday.
Early Saturday morning, police say a man was shot near South Third Street and G.E. Patterson Avenue. He was found near a parking garage on Peabody Place.
The victim was taken to Regional One Health in critical condition. Police say he is now in “non-critical” condition.
In a third non-fatal shooting, a man was critically injured near the corner of Given Avenue and North Holmes Street. Police are searching for a suspect believed to be driving a maroon sport utility vehicle.
