WEEK 1: MEMPHIS PREP FOOTBALL TOP PERFORMERS

Here are the Memphis-area Top Performers for Week 1 of the prep football season:

Offense

Zach Baker, Arlington. Baker threw for 93 yards, ran for 32 more and accounted for a pair of touchdowns in a 50-7 win against Halls.

Devouncey Glover, Arlington. Glover finished with 107 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a 50-7 victory over Halls. Michael Dallas, Briarcrest. The Saints’ quarterbac­k accounted for 352 yards of total offense and three touchdowns in a 21-7 victory against Colliervil­le.

Max Carroll and Jerrod Gentry, Briarcrest. Both Saints’ receivers finished with 75-plus yards and a touchdown in a 21-7 win over Colliervil­le.

Dallan Hayden, CBHS. Hayden ran the ball 31 times for a stellar 260 yards and three touchdowns in a 24-14 victory at Houston.

Scottie Alexander, Colliervil­le. Alexander led all Dragon receivers with 65 yards and added a touchdown in 21-7 setback to Briarcrest.

Ethan Pettigrew, Colliervil­le. Pettigrew threw for 139 yards and one touchdown in a 21-7 loss to Briarcrest.

Jamarion Dowell, Covington. In helping the Chargers beat Munford, 41-6, Dowell ran for 72 yards and a touchdown.

Marcus Hayes, Covington. Hayes led the way in the rushing department for the Chargers with 111 yards on just eight carries in a 41-6 win against Munford. Carson Ruffin, Covington. From his quarterbac­k position, Ruffin had two passing and two rushing touchdowns in a 41-6 victory over Munford.

Atlantis Lax, Fayette-ware. Lax carried the ball 14 times for 180 yards and three touchdowns in a 36-32 victory over Chester County.

Kyle Lowe, Fayette-ware. Lowe eclipsed the century mark in both passing (112 yards) and rushing (102) while also scoring twice on the ground in a 36-32 win against Chester County.

Ben Stegall and Josh Mathis, Houston. The Mustang duo combined for 25 carries while each rushing for 69 yards and a touchdown in a 24-14 loss to CBHS.

Defense

Derrick Carroll and Lucas Odle, Briarcrest. Carroll led the Saints with five tackles and Odle had three tackles for loss in a 21-7 victory against Colliervil­le. Ethan Soefker, CBHS. Soefker made his presence felt early and often, registerin­g 11 tackles in a 24-14 victory at Houston. Ethan Hassler and Ashton Elam, Colliervil­le. Hassler led the Dragons with six tackles and Elam had four passes defended in a 21-7 loss to Briarcrest. Marcus Lee, Colliervil­le. Lee was a bright spot in a 21-7 loss to Briarcrest, getting credited for four tackles and six passes defended.

Anthony Mason, Covington. Mason returned a second-quarter intercepti­on 24 yards for a touchdown in a 41-6 victory over Munford.

Tyler Pegues and Josh Mason, FACS. Pegues and Mason led the Crusaders with 11 and 7 tackles, respective­ly, in a 41-0 loss at Jackson Christian.
