Cars snatched from luxury auto dealership
Mercedes-benz autos stolen in Memphis
Four luxury vehicles were stolen from an East Memphis Mercedes Benz dealership after car thieves drove the vehicles through both dealership display windows and a set of double doors on the side shortly after midnight Wednesday.
Memphis police reported the thefts from Memphis Mercedes-benz occurred hours before another attempted car-snatch from an East Memphis Enterprise dealership fell flat; the suspects were able to break into the business by smashing a store front window, but no property was stolen, police said.
Of the two break-ins that occurred within half a mile from one another, three cars remain missing.
The three stolen vehicles are described by police as a white 2020 fourdoor S560, a red 2020 two-door E450, and a black 2020 two-door SL450R. Those vehicles have not yet been located, police said.
The fourth Mercedes, a silver 2020 four-door S560, was recovered after an officer located the vehicle abandoned in a bank of mud in the area of Ross Road and East Raines Road. Nearby witnesses told the officer that the person that drove the car into the mud, exited the vehicle and walked away shortly before 6 a.m.
In surveillance footage from the Mercedes-benz dealership, the suspects can be seen with wrapped heads and gloves on.
Police said they ransacked an office within the dealership, and took a box of keys that paired with various vehicles on the lot. After driving the vehicles out of the showroom windows and side doors, the suspects were last seen heading westbound on Poplar.
Police have not indicated the two break-ins are connected.
