Poke World to open a second location in Memphis

- Jennifer Chandler Memphis Commercial Appeal USA TODAY NETWORK – TENNESSEE

Poke World will open a new location in East Memphis this fall.

The new poke and bubble tea shop will take over the space that was formerly Zaka Bowl at 575 Erin Drive.

This will be the second Poke World in the Memphis area. The other is located at 1605 N. Germantown Parkway in Cordova.

The menu at the fast-casual dining concept features poke bowls and bubble teas. "This is a delicious and healthy meal," said Daniel Ellington, spokesperson for the Poke World ownership group. "It's a great way to grab a good lunch on the go."

Poke bowls are a dish traditionally made with fresh raw fish and toppings like onions and seaweed. The raw fish is traditionally served over a bed of rice.

At Poke World, you can choose from a variety of proteins such as raw tuna, spicy salmon or sous-vide chicken. Sushi rice, brown rice and salad greens are the three base options. You can customize your bowl with more than two dozen topping options available.

Bubble tea, also known as Boba Milk Tea, is a tea-based drink invented in Taiwan. What makes the drink unique is the tapioca pearls that sit at the bottom. Poke World has a wide variety of options from which to choose.

Rolled ice cream is also on the menu. The restaurant is owned by the same group that operates Red Hook Cajun Seafood Restaurant and Bar.

The new Poke World plans to open by the end of 2020. The menus at both locations will be the same.
