Titans vs. Jaguars: 3 keys to victory for Week 2 matchup

- Erik Bacharach

Keys to victory for the Titans (1-0) as they host the Jaguars (1-0) at Nissan Stadium on Sunday (noon, CBS):

Stop missing kicks

Stephen Gostkowski became the first kicker to miss four kicks (PAT or field goal) in his first game with a team since Dennis Partee did it for the Chargers in September 1968. Not ideal. The Titans can't afford another abysmal kicking performance – and neither can Gostkowski, for the sake of his job security.

Get pressure on Gardner Minshew

Gardner Minshew completed 19 of 20 pass attempts against the Colts last week, becoming the fourth quarterback in NFL history with a completion percentage of 95 or higher (minimum 20 attempts) in a single game. The Jaguars' second-year quarterback showed poise, throwing for three touchdowns without throwing an interception. To counter that, Tennessee will need to apply pressure on Minshew as it looks for big games from outside linebackers Jadeveon Clowney and Harold Landry.

Get more explosive plays

On the ground, the Titans' longest play in Week 1 went for 13 yards. Through the air, their longest was 23 yards. The Titans offense developed a knack last season for ripping big plays on a consistent basis, but that element was lacking in their 2020 debut. Even just a couple of those big-gainers sprinkled in would go a long way in helping them reach the red zone more often.
