Chamique Holdsclaw was a freshman in high school the last time Tennessee lost a home game. She says she was probably at home watching basketball on television. Sunday, she was no spectator. She led No. 2 Tennessee to an 83-67 victory over Texas for the Lady Vols’ 68th consecutive homecourt victory, tying the NCAA women’s record. ”I think to win 68 games is an indication this is a tough place to play and we’ve had a lot of good teams,” Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt said. ”We really haven’t talked about it.”

NEW YORK – More than $1,000,000 was paid out for every calendar day in 1919 by the insurance companies of the United States, William J. Tulley, general solicitor of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, told the 14th annual convention of the Association of Life Insurance Presidents. The total amount claimed last year, he said, was $400,610,916.35, and the total amount paid was $391,917,875.17.
