OLIVE BRANCH, MS - George E. Ellard, aged 76 passed away on Thursday, December 3rd, 2020. George was born in Vincennes, Indiana on July 21st, 1944 to the late Herbert and Marjorie Ellard. He lived most of his childhood in Pinellas Park, Florida, where he met the love of his life, Betty. The two would marry on July 25th, 1964 and be married for 56 years.

George was a football player in high school and then he was a Purple Heart recipient while serving in the Marine Corps in Vietnam.

After his term in the Marines, George and Betty had two daughters, Dawn and Danielle, and moved to Louisville, Kentucky where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences from the University of Louisville.

George and Betty moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1983 for George to start his job at Fedex where he would retire from in December of 2010. He was an Usher and original member of Faith Anglican Church, Cordova, Tennessee. He also started the local University of Louisville Alumni Club and loved rooting for the Cardinals. He was an active member of the Fedex Retirement Club.

George loved his family and was a friend to anyone he met. He is preceeded in death by his daughter, Dawn, and parents Herb and Marjorie Ellard. He is survived by his loving wife Betty, his daughter Danielle Bernardini, granddaugh­ter Mia(hunter) Harthcock, grandson Nello Bernardini, great granddaugh­ters Skye and Hope, his brother Herb(ann) Ellard, his brothers-in-law Mike(molly) Cowan, Ronnie(kay) Cowan, and sister-in-law Laureen Cowan.

Services will be held at Faith Anglican Church, Cordova, Tennessee, on Saturday January 9th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Face Masks required. Please send donations to Faith Anglican Church, The Wounded Warriors, or the donation of your choice.
