MEMPHIS - Ruth C. Ryan went home to be with Our Lord on Saturday, December 12, 2020. She was born on January 16, 1929 to James B. and Sloay Creedon and was a lifelong Memphian.

Ruth was a graduate of St. Agnes School and Normal School of Business and subsequent­ly became an employee of General Electric where she worked for several years and enjoyed being in downtown Memphis and working in the Sterick Building.

Upon her marriage to John J. Ryan, Jr., her life centered around her family, and she treasured her faith and her family above all. She was a parishione­r at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for 55 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her dedicated husband, her daughter Bridget Ryan, daughter-in-law Teresa Ryan, her sister - Sister Mary Catherine O.P., and her brother James B. Creedon, Jr.

She leaves behind her daughters Mary Perry (Larry), Ruth Blackburn (Kenneth), Catherine Bailey (James), and Sheila Linderman (Clark), and her sons John J. Ryan III, James P. Ryan, and Michael Ryan (Leigh Ann), twelve grandchild­ren, seven great grandchild­ren, and a niece and nephew.

The family would like to send our sincere gratitude and appreciati­on to the staff, security team, clinical nurses, and administra­tion at Kirby Pines Estates, where Ruth lived for the past several years.

The family requests that donations in her memory be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlai­n, S.D., Sacred Heart Southern Missions in Walls, MS, or Mercy Home for Street for Boys and Girls in Chicago.
