James E. Mccann
It is with immense sadness that the family of Elder James E. McCann announces his sudden passing on Monday, January 4 at the age of 73 years. He was born as one of 14 children in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the late Bishop Clarence and Missionary Eliza McCann.
Elder Mccann gave his life to Christ when he became born again, saved, sanctified, baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost.
Serving, Reading the Bible, enjoying football, and appreciating family gatherings was a lifelong passion of Elder Mccann.
Upon moving to Memphis, he was the pastor of 2 churches.
He was employed at MLGW as well as Burlington Northern Railroad. After relinquishing both pulpits and retiring from his jobs, he became an Associate Minister at Greater Faith Tabernacle Ministries COGIC. His church involvement included but not limited to the Board of Elders, Chief Adjutant, and Pastor’s Aide. He served on the Local, State, and National auxiliaries in COGIC.
Elder Mccann will be affectionately remembered and missed by loved ones near and far. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Evangelist Tammie and daughters Lashun Bailey and Shalanda (Robert) Douglas of Fairview, New Jersey. He had a fervent love for his grandchildren, Robert III and Ryan Douglas of Fairview New Jersey, and Lacie Rae. He leaves one sister Jacqueline (Dr. Augustus G.)mcdowell, Goldsboro, N.carolina. Cherished memories are with nieces, nephews, special friends, neighbors, and church members.
A Celebration of Elder Mccann’s life will begin with Visitation on Friday, January 8, 2021, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. and on Saturday, January 9, 2021, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. The funeral service will start at 11:00 am. All services will be at Greater Faith Tabernacle Ministries COGIC 905 E Shelby Dr. Final Committal Services will be at New Park Cemetery.
