James (Jim) Clayton Dixon

OLIVE BRANCH, MS - James (Jim) Clayton Dixon passed peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at his apartment in Olive Branch, MS. Jim was 93 years old and a loving husband, father, uncle and grandfathe­r. He was retired from a long career in logistics management and transporta­tion working with Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, Eastern Airlines, Shulman Air Freight, Novo Air Freight, WTC Air Freight and BAX Global. Those who knew him in the industry called him “the Miracle Man”. He was a veteran of the post World War II occupation of Germany where he served with the military police. He enjoyed fishing, searching antique shops and estate sales, playing (and almost always winning) any kind of card game and watching St Louis Cardinals baseball. Jim was a long time member of Longstreet United Methodist Church in Memphis.

Jim is survived by his wife Kathryn (Katie) Dixon, a daughter, Sandra Lail, two sons, Wayne Dixon (wife Debra) and James T. Dixon (wife Karen), five grandchild­ren, Tammy White, Sonya White, Kelly Waddell, Bill Dixon and Matthew Dixon, six great grandchild­ren and four greatgreat grandchild­ren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Irene Dixon and step-son William Richard Street, Jr.

Due to COVID restrictio­ns, there will be no viewing or funeral service. A memorial service will be planned for a time when it is safe to gather. There will be a graveside gathering of family at Forest Hill Midtown, Memphis TN at a date yet to be determined.
