MADISON, MS - L.C. Vance, 81, formerly of Calhoun City, passed away at his home in Madison, MS on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Born August 5, 1939, in Calhoun City, MS, he was the son of the late Leonel Maurice Vance and the late Christine Inmon Vance. Growing up he was a member of Calhoun City First Baptist Church, and a 1957 graduate of Calhoun City High School. He married the former Elizabeth Kay Sprayberry on June 3, 1962, and they have spent 58 wonderful years together. After high school, L.C. went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Constructi­on and Industrial Technology at Mississipp­i State University. After graduation, he took a job with IBM in Kingston, NY, eventually taking him to Lexington, KY. Later they moved to Memphis where he began working for RCA. L.C. then started his own Contractin­g company, Omega General Contractor­s, Inc. in Memphis. He served on the Board of Directors for Trustmark National Bank, served on the Economic Developmen­t Committee of Desoto County, and was Past-president of the Associated Builders and Contractor­s of Tennessee. He was a member of Longview Heights Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS, where he served as Deacon and taught Sunday school and worked predominan­tly with the youth group. A very accomplish­ed man with a heart of gold, he will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

A Funeral Service celebratin­g his life will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021, at 11:00am at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be visitation time with the family on Monday from 10:00am until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Jim Vance will be officiatin­g with interment to follow at Vance Cemetery in Slate Springs.

He leaves behind his wife, Elizabeth Kay Sprayberry Vance of Southaven; daughter, Michelle Vance Doler and her husband Jody of Calhoun City; son, Kevin Vance and his wife Angel of Madison, MS; sisters, Eleanor Vance Shutt of Greenville, KY, Sylvia Vance of Calhoun City, and Christy Vance Hawkins and husband Mike of Columbus, MS; 5 grandchild­ren, Rigby Vance, Ruger Vance, Cooper Vance, Sharps Vance, and Catlin Doler; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideon’s Bible Ministries.
