Memphis junior TE Daniel decides to enter transfer portal
Memphis junior tight end Tyce Daniel has entered the transfer portal, the USA Today Network has learned. He's the second tight end to depart the Tigers in as many days.
A source told The Commercial Appeal that Daniel opted out prior to the Montgomery Bowl. The source was granted anonymity because a formal announcement has not been made.
Daniel appeared in eight games this past season and 20 over the past three seasons with two career catches for 12 yards. He signed with the Tigers as a three-star recruit in 2017.
On Tuesday, sophomore tight end Kameron Wilson announced he was transferring as well. With both Wilson and Daniel gone, senior Sean Dykes and freshman Caden Prieskorn are the only returning tight ends that have caught a pass in a game for Memphis.
Dykes announced in December he'd return for a final season while Prieskorn appeared in four games last season. John Hassell started the Montgomery Bowl and freshman tight end Drew Martin appeared in five games.
