MILLINGTON, TN - James E. Carlisle, 92, of Millington, TN, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, NM; he died from bone marrow and blood cancer diseases. He was preceded in death by his parents, John V. and Pauline Goldsby Carlisle; brother, John L. Carlisle; sisters, Frances C. Ferguson D, Sue Carlisle Phillips and Dorothy Carlisle Vincent. Jim was born October 21, 1928 in Lucy in a white frame house across from Lucy School. He was a lifelong member of Lucy Baptist Church having been baptized with his sister Jean in 1938. He served in areas of usher and welcome, building and grounds, Sunday School director and Training Union director/leader. He was a CPL in the US Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean conflict. Jim retired from Dupont with 25 years, and was active doing the bush hogging work. He was an expert gardener always giving fruits of his labor to family and friends. He was an avid coon, deer, squirrel and rabbit hunter, enjoyed fishing, and especially enjoyed his grandsons. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 70 years, Joeann Stotts Carlisle; three daughters, Rachel Carlisle Benedict (Gary) of Beaumont, TX, Brenda Carlisle “Pnut” Chaffin (Bill) of Las Cruces, NM, and Wanda Carlisle “Puggy” Raffanti (Chris) of Millington, TN; grandsons, Colton Samuel Chaffin (Cheyenne) of Jackson, TN, Taylor Carlisle Benedict of Beaumont, TX ; sister, Jean Carlisle Fitts of Bartlett, TN.
