MEMPHIS - Mae Frances Weeks, of Memphis, age 92, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 7, 2021 following a brief illness. Mae was a long time Realtor (Mae Weeks Realty). Mother of (3), Jesse Weeks Jr. of Casper, Wyoming, Carol Weeks Tabor of Memphis, and Ronald Weeks (Vicky) of Millington. Grandmother of (8), Grady Tabor (Susan) of Brentwood, Tn., Kevin Weeks of Panama City Beach, Fl., Shawn Tabor of Memphis, Brad Weeks of Thompson Station, Tn., Jim Holder (Nan) of Tupelo, Ms., Valerie Weeks Caldwell (Preston) of Milan, Tn., Cecilia Joy Weeks Haley (Jake) of Millington, Ronald “Boo” Weeks Jr. (Amy) of Collierville, and devoted Great-grandmother of (14), Zach and Camden Tabor, Asher and Francee Tabor, Hayden, Garrison and Savannah Weeks, Addison and Drew Caldwell, Jeb Haley, Alec Bouton, Sage Weeks, Phillip Box and Dylan Wooley. Mae was born March 25, 1928 in Mitchell, Ms. And raised in Clarksdale, MS one of 12 children of Charles Martin Lester and Ina Mae Faulkner Lester. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jesse Weeks Sr., her parents, three sisters, Katie Lester Fox, Faye Lester Miller Grammar, and Ann Lester Moore, 5 brothers, Robert Lester, Harold Dean Lester (killed in action in WWII), Charles Lester, Gerald Lester, and Joel Lester. She is survived by her 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and sister Betty Lester Tackett (Donald), brothers William “Bill” Lester and Wayne “Buddy” Lester (Millie), and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews, and her beloved Heritage Baptist Church family.

She deeply loved all of her family and some of her happiest moments were when she was surrounded by them. Her greatest wish and prayers were to see them all in Heaven. Mae’s dream was to become a missionary in China when she graduated but she met the love of her life, was married 19 days later, before her graduation.

Mae was very enthusiastic and active working in her real estate business. Mae Weeks Realty served the Memphis area for 50 years until she retired at the age of 86. Mae was the second woman in Shelby County to receive her real estate broker’s license. Her greatest pleasure in her work was the excitement of young couples buying their first home.

She always said that the Lord blessed her with good health and she water skied into her 70’s, rode a bicycle into her 80’s, road a boogie board at 86, broke her kneecap at 81 playing dodge ball at church, healed and was back at work in less than 2 months praising the Lord that it was her left knee! She was famous for being an avid fan and cheerleader of all her children and grandchildren in their sporting events. Many umpires and referees dreaded seeing her in the stands and knew her by name - she was the definition of a “fanatic” for all her children and grandchildren.

Our family has lost our matriarch, but we feel a profound sense of gratitude for her long life, and the love and generosity that she shared, and we take comfort in knowing that she is with her Savior, Jesus Christ, and after 27 years is reunited with her soulmate.

Funeral services will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Pkwy on Friday, March 12, 2021 with visitation at 1 pm with a graveside service at 2pm.

Donations in Mae’s memory can be made to Heritage Baptist Church, 711 N Houston Levee Rd., Cordova, TN 38018
