Eastern Washington (16-7) earned its first NCAA berth since 2015 with its win over Montana State. The Eagles have won 13 of their past 14 games.

LSU (18-9) struggles on the boards, but the Tigers compensate with a upand-down, iso-heavy style that utilizes its strong scorers. Guard Cameron Thomas (22.6 ppg) is one of the most dynamic scorers in the country.

Texas Southern beat Mount St. Mary’s, 60-52, in its First Four matchup Thursday. ohn Walker III led the Tigers (17-8) with 19 points and 9 rebounds.

Freshman center Hunter Dickinson (14.2 points, 7.6 rebounds) leads Michigan (20-4). The Wolverines started the season 11-0 before losing to Minnesota.

Alabama (24-6) utilizes its run-andgun style to score points in bunches. The Crimson Tide has the third-highest pace in the tournament, and they shot 3s on 47.1% of their possession­s, second most in the field.

4:30 p.m. — No. 11 Drake vs. No. 6 USC, TNT

Drake (26-4) survived a potential game-winning 3-pointer, holding on to beat Wichita State, 53-52, in the First Four on Thursday for its first tournament victory in 50 years.

The Trojans have an imposing frontcourt led by potential NBA lottery pick 7-foot freshman Evan Mobley (16.8 ppg, 8.6 rebound, 3 blocks).

Iowa’s (21-8) tournament hopes rest on two-time Big Ten Player of the Year Luka Garza. The 6-11 senior center averages 23.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.

7:10 p.m. — No. 10 Maryland vs. No. 7 Uconn, CBS

Maryland (16-13) has wins over tournament qualifiers Mount St. Mary’s, Illinois, Purdue, Rutgers and Michigan State (twice). Guard Eric Ayala leads Maryland averaging 14.9 ppg.

Uconn’s led by James Bouknight. The Huskies (15-7) struggled when Bouknight (19 ppg, 5.7 rebounds) missed time with an elbow injury.

7:15 p.m. — No. 13 Ohio vs. No. 4 Virginia, CBS

Virginia (18-6) didn’t travel to Indy until Friday because of COVID issues.

Ohio (16-7) is a popular upset pick because of Virginia’s COVID issues. Jason Preston’s 31-point, 6-rebound, 8-assist and 0-turnover game vs., Illinois put him in the radar of NBA scouts.

Norfolk State (17-7) led by as many 19 points in the first half, of its First

Gonzaga is the first team since Kentucky in 2014-15 to be ranked No. 1 in every poll during the season. The Bulldogs are trying to become the first unbeaten national champion since Indiana in 1976. Gonzaga (26-0) is led by senior forward Corey Kispert (19.2 ppg).

Texas (19-7) guard Andrew Jones (14.6 ppg) and Matt Coleman III (13.3 ppg) form an experience­d backcourt.
