Josephine Foti Muzzi passed away on March 30 at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband whom she was married to for 52 years, Anthony (Tony) Gerald Muzzi, who passed in 2013. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Katina Phillips (Peter) and Sarah Friday (Tony) and the grandchild­ren she cherished Taryn Brielle Phillips, George Anthony (Trey) Friday III, and Colton Ryder Phillips. She is also survived by her sisters Marie Gambetta, Catherine Cole, and Francis Houston (Charles) and by brothers Johnny Foti and Vince Foti (Catherine). She was preceded in death by her parents Peitro (Pete) and Sarah (Spinosa) Foti and brother Frank Foti.

Josephine was born in Sumner, MS and graduated from West Tallahatch­ie High School before attending Delta State where she obtained a BS in Education and met the love of her life and lifelong partner, Tony, who attended the University of Mississipp­i. Josephine and Tony spent 32 years together in Huntsville, AL raising their two daughters, before moving back closer to the area where she grew up, settling in Hernando, MS where she spent the remaining 25 years of her life.

Josephine spent her life in a career she cared for passionate­ly, teaching. After a career of 20+ years of teaching - physical education, science, and history - she retired from formal academia and continued sharing her passion by teaching catechism to the young people of her church. In addition, Josephine spent a great deal of her life helping others, volunteeri­ng countless hours at and with her church at various functions, doing fundraisin­g, and volunteeri­ng in any way necessary to help those in need. She will be deeply missed by all the members of her church “family” at Holy Spirit Catholic Church as well as by her friends from the community.

Visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday April 5, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 545 E. Commerce St. Hernando, MS 38632

Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Monday April 5, 2021 at the church.

Burial will follow at Memphis Memory Gardens 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd, Memphis, TN 38134.
