Voyant Beauty to bring in more new jobs

Company plans to expand in Olive Branch

- Gina Butkovich

Voyant Beauty is expanding in Olive Branch and expects to fill 80 new jobs by June 2023.

"We did compete with other cities in the United States in order to retool this plant," Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams said. "And we won out in doing that because of the good labor market and business-friendly that the local area extends to businesses."

Voyant Beauty is a manufacturer of beauty and personal care projects. The Olive Branch facility, located on Green Valley Drive, currently produces bar soaps for the company's hotel cosmetics business.

The company plans to invest $13.17 million to add liquid compounding and filling line capabilities to the Olive Branch facility.

"They are going to continue producing bar soaps," Adams said. "But they retooled their plant in order to produce liquid soap. As we know, a lot of hotels have switched over to liquid soap instead of bar soap, so they retooled in order to do that."

The 80 new jobs provided will primarily be factory jobs and will be on top of the 57 jobs they currently have in Olive Branch.

"They were very pleased with the labor that Desoto County has been providing," Adams said.

The Mississippi Development Authority is also providing assistance for building improvements and equipment relocation, as is the city of Olive Branch and Desoto County. This assistance is coming in the form of tax incentives.

"We were able to extend their tax incentive," Adams said. "Since they totally redesigned their plant, it extended their tax break."
