BRENHAM - Robert Hayne Black, of Brenham, Texas (formerly of Memphis, TN), passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021.

Rob was a beloved husband of 43 years to Diane Black and a cherished father to Andrew Black, Chris Black, and Robert Black. He treasured his daughters-in-law Rachel Black and Keltie Black. Rob fully embraced his much-loved role as the adored “Papa” to Pearson and Emerson Black. He was also the much-loved brother to Charlotte Foley and Bruce Black.

The son of Ted and Mary Black, Rob was born in Charlotte, NC, and raised on Hayne Circle in Memphis. He attended Colonial Middle School and graduated from Overton High School in 1968. Rob attained a B.S. in Aerospace Engineerin­g from Georgia Tech and an M.B.A. from Stanford University, after which he began a corporate career.

After stints in San Jose and Chicago, Rob moved to Houston, TX, where he married Diane, had three boys, and entered a family business. Rob and Diane returned to Memphis with their three boys in 1990 where he worked with his father and brother and raised their children on Scruggs Drive. In 2004 Rob and Diane relocated to Brenham, TX, where they remained until his passing.

Throughout his life Rob took an active role in the lives of his friends, family and neighbors. Wherever he lived he was always involved with his church and the local Rotary Club, and was intentiona­l in visiting family, friends and former classmates.

Rob will be dearly missed by his wife, children, grandchild­ren, family, and the many friends he made over the years. A private graveside service for Rob was held at Zion Cemetery in Iola, Texas.
