No. 1 Georgia 56, Charleston Southern 7: Standout defensive tackle Jordan Davis scored his first career touchdown and host Georgia’s defense was again dominant. Davis scored on a 1-yard plunge out of the Bulldogs’ jumbo package in the first quarter for the game’s first touchdown. Georgia (11-0) was as dominant as expected against Charleston Southern (4-6), the Football Championship Subdivision team from the Big South. The Buccaneers fell to 0-25 all-time against FBS teams. The Bulldogs allowed only 126 yards – 68 rushing on 31 carries and 58 passing. Brock Bowers had two touchdown catches and four Georgia players, including Davis, had scoring runs. Zamir White ran for 83 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown, on only four carries. Stetson Bennett and JT Daniels split time at quarterback. Bennett threw scoring passes of 32 yards to Kenny Mcintosh and 4 yards to Bowers.
No. 16 Texas A&M 52, Prairie View 3: Devon
Achane and Isaiah Spiller combined for three touchdowns before halftime, and host Texas A&M cruised. Prairie View (7-3), an FCS school that plays in the SWAC, just couldn’t keep up with the Aggies (8-3). Texas A&M led 38-0 after a dominant first half by Achane and Spiller. It also limited Prairie View to 2 yards passing before the break. Moose Muhammad grabbed a 30-yard TD pass from Zach Calzada on Texas A&M’S first possession of the third quarter, making it 45-0. The Panthers got on the board on a 25-yard field goal by Luis Reyes on the next drive. Backup quarterback Blake Bost then took over for A&M with about 5½ minutes left in the third quarter. Achane and Spiller combined for 115 yards rushing in the first two quarters and didn’t run the ball after halftime.
Mississippi State 55, Tennessee State 10: Will Rogers threw for 391 yards and tossed five touchdown passes as host Mississippi State routed Tennessee State. The sophomore quarterback came off a six-touchdown, no-interception performance last week against Auburn to break Dak Prescott’s singleseason school records for passing touchdowns and passing yards in the first quarter. Rogers completed three touchdown passes of 30 yards or more and threw for 300 yards or more for an Fbs-best ninth straight game. Austin Williams caught three scoring passes for Mississippi State (7-4, 4-3 SEC), while Makai Polk and Malik Heath had a touchdown grab apiece. Jo’quavious Marks and Dillon Johnson each rushed for a touchdown for the Bulldogs.
Kentucky 56, New Mexico State 16: Will Levis overcame an early fumble to throw for four touchdowns and 419 yards as host Kentucky cruised past New Mexico State. The Wildcats (8-3) earned their 14th consecutive nonconference victory behind Levis, who completed 21 of 31 passes to become the first Kentucky quarterback to surpass 400 yards since Andre Woodson against Tennessee in 2007.
