ACC ROUNDUP

-

Clemson 48, No. 13 Wake Forest 27: Kobe Pace ran for a career-high 191 yards and two touchdowns as host Clemson won its 13th straight over Wake Forest, delaying the Demon Deacons’ run to the ACC Atlantic title. Will Shipley gained 112 yards with two touchdowns and also threw a 2-yard jump pass TD to Davis Allen for the Tigers (8-3, 6-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), who won their 34th straight at home. Clemson also kept its hopes of a seventh straight trip to the ACC title game alive with the stunning rout of Wake Forest (9-2, 6-1). Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman was sacked seven times and threw an interception. The Deacons also fumbled twice, both leading to Clemson touchdowns. Hartman finished with 312 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown with Wake trailing by 22 points.

North Carolina 34, Wofford 14: Playing without quarterback Sam Howell, host North Carolina ran for 305 yards to beat Wofford, becoming bowl eligible in the process. Howell, who was a game-time decision, missed the first game of his career due to an upperbody injury suffered against No. 20 Pittsburgh last week. Jacolby Criswell started for the Tar Heels and threw for 125 yards, adding 66 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Freshman Drake Maye took over after halftime and finished with 89 yards. The Tar Heels (6-5, 3-4 ACC) never trailed in a Senior Day win where they held the Terriers (1-10, 0-8 Southern Conference) to 242 total yards and rode a ground game that scored three times. British Brooks led the Tar Heel rushing attack with 89 yards and two touchdowns, while Ty Chandler added 78 yards.

Florida State 26, Boston College 23: Jordan Travis threw for three touchdowns and 251 yards and Florida State stopped host Boston College in its own territory in the final two minutes for a win. A week after rallying from an eight-point deficit in the final five minutes for a victory over rival Miami, the Seminoles (5-6, 4-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) rolled to a 23-point lead before holding on to move a victory away from becoming bowl eligible. Travis completed 20-of-34 passes with no interceptions, connecting with three different receivers for scores. BC QB Phil Jurkovec went 10 of 24 for 148 yards with a TD and one INT. He carried 17 times for 59 yards with a score. Pat Garwo

III had a scoring run for the Eagles (6-5, 2-5).

The Seminoles led 19-3 at halftime and scored on the initial drive of the second half when Malik Mcclain made a leaping grab of Travis’ pass in the back of the end zone. BC then scored two TDS — failing on a twopoint conversion on the first — in just over 3 ½ minutes early in the fourth, slicing it to 26-23 on Jurkovec’s 36-yard TD pass to Zay Flowers. BC converted a fourth-and-2 from their 43 with just over 4 ½ minutes left, but Akeem Dent picked off Jurokvec’s desperation pass as the QB was falling to the ground under pressure at the Seminoles’ 25 on a fourth-and-8.
