MEMPHIS - Damon Jay Boiles, Jr. was born August 3,1946 in El Paso, TX to Thelma Boiles and Lt Col Damon Boiles, Sr and died on March 3, 2022 in Memphis, TN at the age of 75.

As a child, Damon moved with his father’s US Army career to posts in England and Turkey, then Bogalusa and Baton Rouge, LA. Damon loved the outdoors, especially raising and riding horses.

Damon joined the Army in 1964 and deployed in Vietnam, where he served as a Paratroope­r in the 82nd Airborne Division and the 173rd Airborne Brigade and was awarded the Bronze Star.

After Vietnam, he settled in Memphis, TN, attended the University of Memphis, and then joined Allstate Insurance Company and ran an agency for 35 yrs. Damon enjoyed collecting antiques and was in the Nat’l Assoc of Watch & Clock Collectors.

Damon was a loving son, brother, husband and father. He married the love of his life (Madeleine) in 1973, and they welcomed their only son (Damon III) in 1977. His focus was always his family, but he never met a stranger. To know him was to love him.

Damon is dearly loved and missed by friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Thomas, and he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Madeleine Pugh Boiles, son, Damon Boiles, III (Weezie), grandsons, Charles Boiles, and Damon Boiles, IV, and cousin, Nancy Mcmahon (Douglas Mcmahon).

Damon was a member of St. John Orthodox Church, where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., with graveside service following directly at Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis, TN. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Damon’s name to the Humane Society.
