Hyatt Caption at One Beale set to open this summer
The Caption by Hyatt Beale Street Memphis, the second of three Hyattbrand hotels planned for Downtown’s One Beale development, will open on June 22. Reservations for rooms are being taken from July 1 onward.
When it opens at 245 S. Front St., the hotel will be the first Hyatt Caption hotel to open anywhere. Following the Memphis debut, Caption locations are expected to open in Tokyo, Osaka, Shanghai and Saigon.
The 136-room hotel has Mississippi River views, easy access to Downtown Memphis attractions, a restaurant, a beer garden, and a lobby space, known as Talk Shop, offering coffee, cocktails, casual meeting space and other amenities.
Sarah Titus, area general manager for Caption by Hyatt Beale Street Memphis, said the hotel is meant to celebrate Beale Street and provide an authentic Memphis experience for visitors.
“The Caption by Hyatt Beale Street Memphis is a first-of-its-kind property that will offer conscientious travelers a true Memphian lifestyle experience,” she said in a news release.
Caption has been described as a “lifestyle, responsibly engaged brand.” The focus of each Caption hotel is to provide a local experience to guests as well as modern amenities like self-check-in kiosks and digital room keys.
The hotel will offer food and drink from local brands including Grit Girls Grits, Bluff City Mushrooms, Joyce Chicken, Home Place Pastures Pork and Grind City Brewing.
The hotel design is also meant to reflect the flavor of the city and includes upcycled materials throughout. The existing brick and cast-iron façade of the historic William C Ellis & Sons Ironworks and Machine Shop, which dates back to 1879, is incorporated into the hotel.
The Caption will be the second Hyattbrand hotel at the massive development. The Hyatt Centric opened in 2021. Work on the third hotel, the Grand Hyatt, is expected to begin soon.
