She attended Mars Hill University in North Carolina and later obtained both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Memphis.

Sandra grew up playing the piano studying five hours a day as a young gifted musician. She had a natural ability to feel each note she played with both precision and passion. She performed numerous recitals at Deshazo School of Music and had her sights set on attending Julliard School of Music in New York.

She and her family were active members of First Baptist Church, where her father served as a deacon for many years. She studied voice under Earl Holloway, singing in the church choir and later performed with Opera Memphis as a first soprano. She was a dedicated choir member and soloist at Central Church and performed in numerous plays at the Jewish Community Center and Theatre Memphis.

Later in her life, she fell in love with ballroom dancing and eventually participated in competitions throughout the country. She also loved animals of all kinds and served for many years as a docent at the Memphis Zoo.

She leaves a younger sister, Sherron Lynn Ward, in Memphis, Tennessee, who she adored. She and Sherron were best friends throughout Sandra’s life and Sherron was the recipient of many mischievous pranks from her sister. They had a blast together, particularly in concert with their Daddy. Sandra and her Daddy shared a love of the outdoors, often digging in the dirt together and planting beautiful flowers.

Sandra met her husband of 63 years, Charles S. Trammell, Jr., while attending Mars Hill University. From the first time they met, they became instant best friends and later fell in love. They had two daughters, Sherron Renee Trammell and Christie Michelle Trammell-vincent. Sandra enjoyed gardening, exercising, water and snow skiing, white water rafting, traveling, and attending Memphis Tigers and Grizzlies games. She also served special needs children for thirty-seven years along with her husband. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and was an encourager to everyone she met.
