Here’s a look at promotions, hirings, movers and newsmakers in the Memphis area business scene:

Edward “Ed” D. Lanquist Jr. and Scott M. Douglass have joined Baker Donelson’s Intellectu­al Property Group as shareholde­rs in the Nashville and Memphis offices, respective­ly. Lanquist focuses his practice on patent, trademark and copyright litigation, as well as intellectu­al property counseling, trademark prosecutio­n and technology law. With more than three decades of intellectu­al property law experience, he has prosecuted more than 150 patent applicatio­ns and 1,400 trademark registrati­on applicatio­ns. Lanquist is active in the Nashville legal community. He currently serves as vice president of the Tennessee Bar Associatio­n and will be the TBA’S president-elect in 2023 and president in 2024. Lanquist earned his juris doctor from the University of Tennessee.

Douglass concentrat­es his practice in trademarks, copyrights and data privacy. He litigates trademark, trade dress and copyright claims in federal courts. Douglass graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law. He is a member of the Licensing Executives Society, American Intellectu­al Property Law Associatio­n, Copyright Society of the South and Internatio­nal Trademark Associatio­n.

ALCO Management announced the promotion of regional property manager Amy Greer to vice president of property management. Greer succeeds Sondra Wimbs, who retired after 30 years at the company. Previously, she was ALCO’S community manager at the Metropolit­an and Greenlaw Place Apartments in Memphis and later as a senior community manager and the company’s fair housing and 504 coordinato­r.

Greer has been with ALCO for 16 years and has earned profession­al designatio­ns as Certified Property Manager, Public Housing Specialist, Certified Apartment Manager, Certified Profession­al of Occupancy and Specialist in Housing Credit Management. In her new role she’ll lead ALCO’S team of regional property managers and oversee the day-to-day operations of its affordable apartment communitie­s.

A2H, a Memphis area-based full-service planning and design firm of engineers, architects, landscape architects, interior designers and land surveyors, added four new hires locally to the team.

h Charles “Chooch” Pickard, senior architect, brings more than 25 years of experience to the firm, where he will continue to leverage his broad expertise as a preservati­on architect and urban designer. He was most recently a principal at Arch Inc. h William Key, structural engineer, has five years of experience in structural design, having worked on a wide range of project types including industrial, healthcare, civic and educationa­l facilities. In addition, he has 10 years of field experience in the constructi­on industry.

h Bryan Putt, structural designer, has a focus on foundation­s, flood control and constructi­on phase field services. An Arkansas State University graduate, he is currently enrolled in graduate-level architectu­ral study at Lawrence Technical University.

h Grettio Rivas, structural designer, has broad experience in industrial and commercial buildings with a specific focus on foundation design.

Neel-schaffer hired Jeremy Branch to serve as a water resources engineer in the firm’s Chattanoog­a office. He has more than 10 years of water resources engineerin­g experience, including six with the Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico, District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. With Neel-schaffer he’ll work on various analysis and drainage study/design projects for clients across a nine-state footprint. He is a Registered Profession­al Engineer and a Certified Floodplain Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineerin­g from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.

The University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law recently welcomed several new faculty members.

h Jennifer Brobst has joined as an Assistant Professor of Law. She joins the law school from Southern Illinois University School of Law, where served as an Associate Professor of Law, crossappoi­nted in the SIU School of Medicine Department of Medical Humanities. Brobst teaches Torts, Profession­al Responsibi­lity and Health Law courses. She received her B.A. degree from the University of Cape Town, Republic of South Africa with honors in Social Anthropolo­gy and Archaeolog­y, J.D. degree from University of San Diego School of Law, and LL.M. (by thesis in internatio­nal comparativ­e law) from Victoria University of Wellington

Law School, New Zealand.

h Sonya Garza has joined Memphis Law as an Assistant Professor of Law and teaches Contracts, Family Law and Race & the Law. Prior to joining the faculty, Garza served as an Assistant Professor of Law at the Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law at Barry University. While at Barry, she served as the faculty advisor for the Child and Family Law Journal, as well as the Hispanic Law Students Associatio­n and the Family

Law Certificat­e Program. Garza earned her J.D. at Stanford Law School, where she was a Note Editor on the Stanford Law Review.

h Regina Hillman joins the law school as an Assistant Professor of Law after serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Law since 2017. While at the law school, she oversaw the law school’s

Legal Methods program and taught Profession­al Responsibi­lity. Her teaching interests also include Gender & the LAW/LGBTQ+ Rights, and Advanced Legal Writing. Prior to being a faculty member at the University of Memphis School of Law, Hillman taught Legal Process I & II as an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee College of

Law and undergradu­ate and graduate level classes on Business Law & Ethics and Employment/labor Law at Tusculum College. Hillman received her J.D. summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
