Bridgett Jordan, 18, of Collierville was chosen first runner-up in the Miss Teen USA pageant Monday. Jordan, daughter of John and Annette Jordan, was born in Memphis and graduated from Houston High in May. She plans to attend Middle Tennessee State University in the fall to major in television broadcasting and minor in speech and drama. As first runner-up, Jordan receives $3,000 cash, a $3,000 Speedo scholarship and a Hoy crystal trophy. 50 years ago — 1973 WASHINGTON – Atty. Gen. Elliot Richardson said Sunday that President Nixon has “made a very strong case” for not turning over White House tapes to the Watergate special prosecutor. In another televised interview, Sen. George Mcgovern (D.-S.D.) said Congress must seriously consider impeachment if the courts order Nixon to release the tapes and he refuses to do so.
