Boys basketball stars playing in state tournament

The TSSAA boys basketball state tournament tips off Wednesday.

Here is a look at the top players participating in this year's state tournament at Middle Tennessee State's Murphy Center.

Emmanuel Allen, Ridgeway, Sr.: Allen, a 6-foot-5 forward, averages 15.5 points, 11.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks for the Class 3A quarterfinalist.

Christian Alston, Bartlett, Sr.: Alston, a 6-6 guard, averages 15.4 points and shoots 82.3% from the free throw line for the Class 4A quarterfinalist.

Colin Beason, David Crockett, Sr.: Beason, a 6-3 forward, averages 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists for the Class 3A state quarterfinalist.

Anthony Bonner, Red Bank, Sr.: Bonner averages 21.2 points with 6.6 rebounds and 2.7 steals for the Class 3A quarterfinalist.

Malaki Brooks, Union City, Sr.: Brooks, a 6-0 guard and Mr. Basketball finalist, averages 27.7 points with 6.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists for the Class 1A quarterfinalist.

Jarmon Brittman, Douglass, Jr.: Brittman, a 6-4 forward, averages 17.8 points with 10.2 rebounds and 2.0 blocks this season for the undefeated Class 2A quarterfinalist.

Jason Britton, North Greene, Sr.: Britton, a 6-1 guard and 2023 Mr. Basketball finalist, averages 29.3 points with 6.4 rebounds and three assists a game for the Class 1A quarterfinalist.

Landon Bryant, La Vergne, Jr.: Bryant averages 16.4 points and 6.0 rebounds a game for the Class 4A quarterfinalist.

Taquez Butler, Douglass, Jr.: Butler, a 6-3 guard, averages 16.2 points with 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists.

Brian Carter, Ridgeway, Sr.: Carter, a 6-5 forward, averages 17.3 points and 6.6 rebounds.

Jahvin Carter, Alcoa, Sr.: The Penn State signee and Mr. Basketball finalist averages 27.3 points with 5.4 assists and 4.0 rebounds a game for the Class 2A quarterfinalist.

Shane Cherry, Austin-east, Jr.: Cherry, a 5-10 shooting guard and Mr. Basketball finalist, is averaging 27.2 points with 5.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Class 2A quarterfinalist.

Kyle Cloninger, Morristown East, Sr.: Cloninger, a 6-1 guard, averages 24.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists for the Class 4A quarterfinalist.

Ty Cobb, Upperman, Fr.: Cobb, a 6-0 guard, averages 19.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists for the Class 3A quarterfinalist.

Daniel Cochran, Brentwood, Sr.: Cochran, a University of Chicago commitment, is averaging over 23 points and 9.8 rebounds a game for the Class 4A quarterfinalist. He is the school's alltime scorer.

Aiden Dicus, Frank Hughes, Jr.: Dicus, a 6-5 junior, averages 14.6 points with 9.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game for the Class 1A quarterfinalist.

Jacob Edwards, Rossview, Sr.: Edwards, a 6-3 forward, averages 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds for the Class 4A quarterfinalist.

John Foster, Gordonsville, So.: Foster, a 6-1 guard, is averaging 15.0 points with 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists for the Class 1A quarterfinalist.

Landon Hankemeier, Rossview, Sr.: Hankemeier, a 6-4 forward, averages 16.2 points and 7.2 rebounds.

Jeremiah Hayes, Fayette-ware, Sr.: Hayes, a 6-1 guard, averages 14.9 points and 8.0 rebounds for the Class 3A quarterfinalist.

R’chaun King, Bartlett, Sr.: The 6-6 Arkansas State signee averages 15.4 points and has 44 steals this season.

Tyler Lee, Knoxville Fulton, Sr.: Lee, a Mr. Basketball finalist, averages 15.2 points and is one of four players to average double figures for the Class 3A quarterfinalist.

Kendrick Lloyd, Red Bank, Sr.: Lloyd, a 6-1 guard, averages 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists.

Isaac Mcnealy, Jellico, Sr.: Mcnealy, a 6-2, guard, averages 18.5 points with 7.9 rebounds and 3.5 steals and 2.6 assists for the Class 1A quarterfinalist.

Jett Montgomery, Independence, Sr.: The Southern Miss signee and Mr. Basketball finalist averages 21.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists for the Class 4A quarterfinalist. He is the school's all-time leading scorer.

Michael Nwoye, Hume-fogg, Fr.: Nwoye, a 6-5 center, averages 15.1 points and 10.0 rebounds for the Class 3A quarterfinalist.

Pocjowk Nyapal, East Nashville, Sr.: Nyapal, a 6-7 center, averages 12.6 points and 11 rebounds per game for the Class 2A quarterfinalist.

Elisha Puckett, Hickman County, Jr.: Puckett, a 6-2 point guard, averages 15.1 points and 7.5 rebounds along with 3.0 assists for the Class 2A quarterfinalist.

Auden Slaughter, Santa Fe, Jr.: Slaughter, a 6-2 guard, averages 34.8 points a game with 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the Class 1A quarterfinalist.

Tyler Stacks, Hickman County, Sr.: Stacks, a 6-3 forward, averages 15.6 points with 7.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

Ja’marcus Whitelow, Ripley, Sr.: The 6-3 shooting guard is averaging 15.0 points and 6.0 rebounds a game for the Class 2A quarterfinalist.

Ja’marion Whitelow, Ripley, Sr.: The 6-4 forward is averaging 21.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 blocks a game.
