Local marketing agency Campfire Collective was recognized as one of the winners of the 2023 SPARK Awards for its community impact initiative, Carrying the Torch. A co-production of WKNO and CITYCURREN­T, the SPARK Awards spotlight the good taking place in Memphis and showcase how individual­s and businesses can become a spark to make a meaningful and lasting impact in the community. Campfire Collective was selected in the Corporate: 100 Employees or Fewer category. Eligible nominees illustrate­d philanthro­pic leadership, volunteeri­sm and impact.

The Memphis-shelby County Airport Authority selected Regina Armstrong as its new Senior Manager of Business Developmen­t. Armstrong Armstrong will be responsibl­e for

planning, directing, organizing and coordinati­ng the administra­tion of the MSCAA’S economic inclusion programs. The Business Diversity Developmen­t Program includes Disadvanta­ged Business Enterprise, Small

Business Participat­ion, Airport Concession­s Disadvanta­ged Business Enterprise and in-house certificat­ion programs.

The Harris Shelton Hanover Walsh law firm has expanded its legal team with two new attorneys. Williamson Brandt and Ameshia Forrest joined Harris Shelton as associate attorneys and are licensed to practice in Tennessee. Brandt is a key member of the Tax Team, providing expertise in complex tax matters, mergers and acquisitio­ns, business transactio­ns and estate planning. Forrest specialize­s in business and corporate law and bankruptcy.

Soapstandl­e announced Chyniece Matthews is its new Operations Manager. Before joining Soapstandl­e, she worked as a Code School Peer Mentor at Code Crew in Memphis where she also earned her certificat­e in software engineerin­g. She studied business and fashion marketing, graduating with a double major in media and dance at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. She also studied abroad at

The American College of Greece in Athens.

Firefighte­r Christophe­r M. Porter of the North Tunica Fire Department, graduated with Class 206 from the National Fire Protection Associatio­n (NFPA) 1001 Firefighte­r I-II course held at the Mississipp­i State Fire Academy in Jackson, Mississipp­i. The seven-week course included online, classroom and handson instructio­n in the areas of fire behavior, fire suppressio­n, rescue, incident command, hazardous materials and other fire-related topics. This course meets and exceeds the NFPA for Firefighte­r Qualificat­ions and the uniform minimum training standards.

Addison Turner of Allen & Hoshall acquired his profession­al license as a plumbing and fire protection engineer in Tennessee. He joined the firm in 2022 as a plumbing and fire sprinkler designer and has since designed plumbing and fire sprinkler systems for new constructi­on and renovation projects, including school and government facilities in the Mid-south. As a licensed engineer, he will oversee the developmen­t of design and constructi­on documents for various building projects.

Dan Springer, an executive in the administra­tion of former Mayor Jim Strickland, joined the project management firm MFA as Program Manager in January. MFA is a joint venture between O.T. Marshall Architects, Fleming Architects and Aaron Patrick Architects.

Memphis-based Redwood Services, a home services firm focused on investing in leading residentia­l HVAC, plumbing and electrical services companies in growing U.S. markets, has invested in B&J Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioni­ng. B&J is a family business that was founded in 1976 in Wilson, North Carolina, and has more than 60 employees and more than 13,000 customers. Mark Wethington, president of B&J, will retain a significan­t minority ownership stake as part of the investment and the B&J team will continue to operate and manage the business under the B&J banner and name.
