Hebe, mythical goddess of youth and cup

bearer to the gods, will be a spectator of Memphis Cotton Carnival parades this year from her vantage point atop Court Square’s fountain if hopes of the Memphis Light, Gas & Water Division come true. Maj. Thomas H. Allen, president of the Memphis Light, Gas & Water Commission, said workers have started restoring the fountain to “as near the original as possible.”

At a meeting this week of the directors of the Union Planters Bank & Trust Co., the capital stock of the bank was increased to $3,000,000.
