POTTSTOWN >> Police arrested a Philadelphia man after he was allegedly found to be in possession of crack cocaine and other drugs that he concealed in his underwear.

Terrence Johnson, 23, of Philadelphia, was arrested on July 22 after he was approached by police on the 400 block of Apple Street.

Police said an officer was on patrol in an unmarked police vehicle when he came upon a silver Saturn Aura blocking the road. Police got out to make contact with the driver and noticed Johnson walking away from Dumpsters in the parking lot. Police asked if the vehicle belonged to Johnson and detected an odor of marijuana coming from him, according to court documents. Police also noted that Johnson’s eyes appeared to be blood shot. When the officer asked if he had any marijuana on him, Johnson stated that he had marijuana in the driver’s door and that he had smoked earlier. Police found a clear flip top container with a small amount of suspected marijuana where Johnson had indicated. He then told police that the marijuana belonged to him.

Police took Johnson into custody for possession of marijuana. A search incident to arrest yielded two sandwich bags containing two bundles totaling 113 bags of suspected heroin, one bundle of 75 white wax bags with a black skull stamp, another bundle of 38 white wax bags with a black skull stamp, 13 flip top vials containing suspected crack cocaine and two screw top vials containing suspected crack cocaine, police said. The items were found concealed inside Johnson’s underwear.

Field tests yielded positive results for crack cocaine and marijuana, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Police said the recovered drugs had a street value of $1,250.

Johnson was also found to be in possession of $608 in cash and police later found that he had been on probation in Philadelphia for drug sales and escape, according to court documents.

Johnson has been charged with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver, intent to possess a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned on July 22 before District Judge Scott Palladino and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 31 before District Judge Edward C. Kropp. He was unable to post the set 150,000 bail and is being held at Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
