Did you know that to a child, a firefighter in breathing apparatus sounds a little like Darth Vader? That was amply demonstrated Oct. 14 when Ringing Hill Fire Company brought their trucks and a truck-load of information to Ringing Rocks Elementary School. There, firefighter Brian Weil, in all 50 pounds of his firefighting gear, explained to the children what to do and what to expect in a fire. Demonstrations like that were happening at schools and public locations all over the greater Pottstown area for Fire Prevention Week. Perhaps the most spectacular is the collection of equipment that gathers once a year in the parking lot of the Coventry Mall, which occurred Oct. 13.
