Event to highlight local art
POTTSTOWN >> “Art has always been a catalyst in the rejuvenation of American communities, and is the focus of Pottstown ArtsWalk,” said Lauren Pierson-Swanson of the Steel River Playhouse.
The Pottstown ArtsWalk, set for Saturday, Jan. 7, is free but you must pre-register for your free ticket at www.artfu-sion19464.org/artwalk. Arts and culture organizations, local businesses and restaurants are all teaming up to bring you a day of fun, food and entertainment. Can I order as many tickets as I want? Yes. Where am I going? St.: Featuring free dance lesson, a live band dance with Temple Avenue and refreshments. Beverly’s Pastry Shop, 322E. High St.: Offering discounts on sweet treats. The Carousel at Pottstown, 30W. King St.: Meet artists of the allvolunteer organization and hear presentations on the project’s history.
Connections on High, 238E. High St.: Featuring custom portrait making, local artists’ displays and hot beverages.
Grumpy’s Handcarved Sandwiches, 137E. High St.: Pottstown High School culinary arts students will be making and serving complimentary hors d’oeuvres. There will also be discounts on food during the ArtsWalk.
High Street Music, 135E. High St.: Featuring artwork by Pottstown High School students and the Craig Clemens Jazz Trio. The Hill School Center for the Performing Arts, 780Beech St.: Featuring a paper lantern art activity and backstage tours. iCreate Cafe, 130King St.: There will be discounts on food during the ArtsWalk. Juan Carlos Fine Mexican Cuisine, 235E. High St.: There will be discounts on food during the ArtsWalk.
Lily’s Grill, 115E. High St.: There will be discounts on food during the ArtsWalk.
Memory Madness Photo Studio, 16N. York St.: Featuring an open house in honor of the ArtsWalk.
Montgomery County Community College North Hall Gallery, 16E. High St.: Catch a staged reading of “A Bright Room Called Day” by Tony Kushner.
MOSAIC Community Land Trust, 10S. Hanover St.: Paint Schuylkill River rocks for placement in gardens around town. Potts & Penn Family Diner, 80E. High St.: There will be discounts on food during the ArtsWalk.
Smith Family Plaza, 100E. High St.: Featuring sculpture by Eric Berg. Steel River Playhouse, 245E. High St.: Featuring a hand-made theatrical costume display by Ally Boughter and artwork by Thomas Poplawski. Also, the N Crowd Improv Group from Philly will perform a show at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at www.steelriver.org. Weitzenkorn’s, 145E.

What time does this happen?
Family-friendly activities are scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Then from 4 to 8 p.m. comes more activities designed for adults.
